Guard Yourself!

We need to guard ourselves at all times of the enemy’s attack. Guarding yourself from teachings that are not of God. Many times we don’t even realize that we have adopted a way of believing the word or not believing the word for certain areas of our lives.

We give of our time, our money, our love etc. But if the bank account says you have no money, than I guess it must be true. Even though Gods word says that he will give onto us pressed down, shaken together and running over.

Luke 6:38
38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

The problem is that we don’t do or obey what the Lord’s word says and when we don’t get what we believe we deserve, we then tend to adopt the philosophy of the world.

God’s word is to instruct us in Godly behavior and mindset. It is to conform our minds to something different, other than what the world has been teaching us everyday of our lives, past and present.

1 Timothy 4:7-9
7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training are of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.

Godless myths and old wives tales are stories and ways that our previous generations have taught us to live our lives. We now need to reprogram ourselves to trust God and his word and to value the truth. God said to do it (ourselves) because He knows that He will not make us do anything we don’t want to do.

When are we going to take responsibility over your salvation and your walk with the Lord? It is much easier to accept what the world says because that is how we are programmed, but like all things must change, our mindset must change in order to bring change to our lives and to the lives we will have direct connection with.

There are about 5 deadly misconceptions I believe that will cause you not to guard yourself against the enemy, therefore he will steal your calling and dreams.

You need to ask yourself if you fit in any of these categories and why…
1. I don’t feel like I have a dream on the inside of me, I’m not that important.
2. I have to invent a dream in order to have one.
3. I have a dream, but it’s not really important to anyone.
4. I have a dream but it’s up to God to make it happen, so I’ll just wait.
5. I had a dream, but it’s too late now.

You have to really think about these statements, and reflect on what you believe, if you don’t know than I encourage you to watch carefully your actions and your comments about your surroundings and your life.

The truth is until you decide to reject this worldly way of viewing things in your life you will be trapped there.

Believe it or not you do have a dream and a plan that has been made just for your life. Everything was picked out for you, like the color of your skin, hair, and eyes, your personality, your smile and everything else that makes you….. (you.)

What is brewing on the inside of you? What is your passion?

Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
PLAN: 1. A program, or method worked out beforehand for the accomplishment of an objective: a plan of attack. 2. To have as a specific aim or purpose; intend:

Be wise. Guard yourself against the false attacks of the enemy.
Sit down, be quiet and ask yourself questions that will motivate you to think forward.
1. What am I good at? Or have always been good at?
2. What needs do I care about the most?
3. Who do I admire the most? (maybe more than one person)
4. What makes me feel most fulfilled?
5. What do I really love to do the most? (maybe more than one thing)
6. What have I felt called to do? (now or recently in my life)

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Finally I want to leave you with the very wise words of Maxine Clarke (founder of Build a Bear workshop) … everyone she asked told her that her dream of building this empire was insane and that it would never work.

“Finally, you should always allow yourself to dream, and dream Big… it’s only through such thinking that great things happen. Don’t limit yourself because you don’t think your dream is attainable. You must start by believing you can truly achieve whatever you set your mind to no matter how big it might seem. Not dreaming big enough is one of the biggest mistakes you can make—- if you can’t see your dream, how do you expect others to.”
