The Christian’s Walk
17So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;
Futility- lack of usefulness or effectiveness, out of order, Confused, Cluttered!
Their ignorance is what makes them darkened. It is possible to be a Christian and live this way. We need to spend time getting revelation by reading the word of God. You can’t just do it by reading a devotional here and there or listening to a great podcast or show. I like those things too, but they can’t be your only source. Clear out your mind of the clutter throughout the day and fill it with the word of God.
9 -10″The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.”
20But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,
22that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, We were taught to put off the old self, and behave in the new way we were taught.
23and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, To be made new in the attitude of my mind.
24and put on the new self, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth put on the new man.
Renewed in my thinking in my thoughts
Proverbs 23:7 – however a man thinks so is he……
We usually don’t see ourselves in the image that God sees us in. We tend to look at our outward appearance and fix that so others can accept it. But God searches the heart. He sees things no man can see. We need to get convicted by God about our heart so we can reflect Him inside and out. Once the inside is fixed the outside fixes itself.
No other factor is more decisive in motivating us in life than the judgment we make about ourselves. This is why having the mind of Faith is vital.
It matters what happens in our thoughts.
You will never live a victorious life until you see the way God sees you.
What does God say about me? What does God think about me?
This is what He thinks: In Deuteronomy 7:6, God tells me that I am “His treasured possession.” God tells me in Psalm 17, “I am the apple of His eye.” Psalm 139:14 God says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” In Philippians 4:8, God tells me to think about whatever is “true, noble, right, pure, and lovely.” This is just a few things….
I choose to think about the truth that God tells me and spend my time thinking about what God says. We have been hurt and bombarded with negativity, if not from our own families, from our surroundings, society, work, enemies and even “friends”. There is always negativity to lie to us and take away all that God says and feels for us.
The last Scripture I want to share is Psalm 119:114, “You are my refuge and my shield. I have put my hope in your Word.”
Before I could change the way I see myself I must change the way I see God!
Proverbs 18:20 says 20 Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest.
Let God speak to you and you speak it over yourself.
What is your take away?
