What lies are we believing? What if people said in our lives that are lies and we have made them our truth? I was talking to a young lady and I like to send lady very much so I said to her would you like to hear the beginning intro to my new podcast, she said sure!
So, I let her listen to it and she said, you have a fantastic radio voice, I don’t have a voice like that I am monotone. A teacher of mine told me I was monotone. So, this has now become this young lady’s truth. And the reason I know that is because she has mentioned it more than once. This young lady has a great speaking voice. Now I’m sure it hasn’t stopped her to walk in her calling but I’m sure that it has interfered with other things she could be doing, but won’t do because she’s monotone so she thinks. See we need to be responsible of what we say to others. Words are powerful and when we tell someone something in our perspective it doesn’t mean that it’s their truth. It did make me think, however, what lies am I believing that is not true? I think when we believe the lies, sometimes we create them in our lives because we believe it’s our truth. For example, growing up I was always called chubby or fat. But at the age of 18 even after having my son I was a size 8. I always felt fat though.
I started to not care because I said well it doesn’t matter I’m fat anyway. I was in a very abusive relationship that filled me with lies and fears that became my truths. Now I have to say for the last 20 years or so I have struggled with my weight. And I am overweight. But what if I didn’t believe there lie? What if I would’ve said I am healthy and strong? What I have taken a different approach. What I maybe have worked out more since I used to like working out? What I have eaten better? See when you trust the words of liars those lies Will not help you at all. In fact, in Jeremiah 7:8 8
“‘You are trusting the words of a saying. It’s a lie that cannot help you Speak out the mean and hurtful lies in your life: Were you told you were unlovable? Ugly? Fat? Too skinny? Stupid? Dumb? Not smart enough? Unteachable? A mistake? Not wanted? Used? Too short? Too tall? Cruel? Conceited? Not good enough? A waste of time? See people will tell you what their hurts and ugliness is inside by the way they treat you. So, we need to turn this around, now we have to start speaking the truth, even if we don’t know what the truth is, we need to find it and we need to speak it. See for me I am Christian, so for me I need to go to the word and figure out all that God says about me as a person, as a woman, as a mom, as a wife, as an employee, as a friend you get the point. Some of the things that the Bible says about me and you is: • We have wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. •
You are a whole new person with a whole new life • You are God’s work of art. • I am fearfully and wonderfully made. • I am the apple of his eye (I never felt that way before) • You are totally and completely forgiven • You are the salt of the earth • You are a new creature in Christ • We are no longer a slave, but a child and an heir. (no longer a slave to that old lie and mentality) • We are Jesus’ friend. • we have been set free • we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. • we are chosen • we are redeemed and forgiven • we are seated in the heavenly places with Christ. • The peace of God guards our heart and mind. • we are holy and beloved. • God loves us and has chosen us. • You are greatly loved • You are adopted into God’s family (which is funny I used to always wish I was adopted) because I didn’t feel loved so that would explain it. What lies are you believing? If you continue to believe these lies will always live with limitations. You must start knowing and searching for the truth of who you really are and what you were created to be. People will always spill their garbage over onto you, but no more. You are not anyone’s garbage person. No more lies and shenanigans for you. You must be strong enough to understand that even if it feels weird to speak good things to yourself, do it anyway, feelings are always subject to change but the truth will always remain. And no, you are not too far gone already. That is another lie. 1 Peter 3:8 8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
